Affiliate Disclosure

Last updated: April 2026

Hardy Houseplant is a free website supported in part by affiliate commissions. This page explains how that works and what it means for you.

What an affiliate link is

Some product recommendations on this site include tracked links to retailers. If you click one of those links and buy the product, the retailer pays us a small commission. The price you pay is exactly the same. You are not charged extra because of our link.

Which programs we participate in

We may join and link to various affiliate programs as the site grows, including (but not limited to) Amazon Associates, retailer-direct affiliate programs, and gardening-specific networks. When we participate in a program that requires specific disclosure language, that language will appear on the relevant pages in addition to this page.

How we choose what to recommend

Affiliate commissions do not decide which products we write about. Our process:

  • We write about gear we would actually use on our own plants
  • We note real pros and cons, including reasons not to buy
  • We do not accept payment to publish positive reviews
  • We do not publish sponsored posts disguised as editorial

If a product we have recommended turns out to be disappointing, we update the article. If we no longer recommend it, we say so.

Your choice

You are never required to buy anything through our links. You can search the product name directly, buy it elsewhere, or not buy it at all. Using our links is a way to support the site if a recommendation was useful to you, and we appreciate it.
